Safe mode recovery process

Your AzBox miniMe American Edition satellite receiver includes a safe mode feature which enables you to recover your system by reinstalling the firmware and restoring factory defaults should the receiver fail to boot properly. This feature replaces the recovery switch on the back panel which has been disabled as it is not compatible with the American edition of the AzBox miniMe.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE RECOVERY SWITCH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE AS IT WILL ERASE EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE SAFE MODE FEATURE AND YOUR UNIT WILL HAVE TO BE SENT BACK FOR REFLASHING BY AZBOX AMERICAS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Please follow these steps in order to use the safe mode feature of the AzBox miniMe American Edition:
1. With the power cord unplugged from the unit, plug in the power cord and press the power button.
2. Press and hold the 1 key on the remote control while the unit boots until you see the “AzBox starting in safe mode...” message displayed on your TV.
3. Once your unit has completed booting into safe mode, press the Menu key on your remote control then select “Information” and “Software Update” from the menu.
4. Select either Internet or USB update as desired. You may select any AzBox miniMe American Edition firmware version in order to recover your system. For USB updates, you will need to download AzBox miniMe American Edition firmware from azboxamericas.com on your USB disk and connect it to your unit first before proceeding.
5. If you receive the “Preserve user settings during firmware update?” message, please answer NO in order to correctly recover your system. Please note that it is NOT possible to preserve user settings when performing a system recovery under Safe Mode.
6. The selected firmware will then be reinstalled on your device including factory default settings. Once the process is completed, your unit will automatically reboot.
7. As soon as your unit reboots, remove your USB drive if connected and hold down the 0 key on the remote control until you see the “AzBox starting...” message displayed on your TV. This is to reboot normally instead of in safe mode.
8. Congratulations, your system is now fully recovered and ready to be enjoyed again! You will have to reconfigure your unit or restore your settings backup.
Please note that AzBox Americas does not support the use of any third party firmware. Installing other than the official firmware released by AzBox Americas on the miniMe American Edition will cause many key features of your receiver such as blindscan to not function properly and void the receiver's comprehensive 2 year warranty.
Please note that AzBox miniMe American Edition firmware releases can ONLY be installed by using the Software update function from within the system. Installing third party firmware will prevent you from reinstalling the original miniMe American firmware!
